Job Role: Occupational Health Advisor (Permanent)

Are you an Occupational Health Advisor or a Registered Nurse, looking for a new Challenge?

MPA are please to be teaming up with an award-winning organisation to source an Occupational Health Advisor for their head office based in Newtownabbey.

 

While Enjoying plenty of variety, you will take responsibility for every aspect of Occupational Health from fitness for work, case management, health protection and health surveillance to delivering health promotion and supporting employee wellbeing for around 4000 employees.

 

The successful candidate will be working with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) for the provision of professional occupational health nursing assessments, care and advice to management.

 

Working hours and rate of Pay:

·         36.5 per week Monday-Thursday 8:45am-4:45pm and Friday 8:45am-3:45pm

Although there will be requirement for flexibility to meet the needs of the business as and when required (e.g. assisting with support on any weekend shift/nightshift operations at the distribution centre). Some travel to area ‘satellite’ clinics to support the store network in the Province will also be required from time-to-time

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 negotiable*

 

What the role entails:

  • In conjunction with some external support from an outsourced OH Consultancy service, you will directly support the health and wellness of circa 4000 employees. Approximately 3000 of the employees are based at the retail stores with others located at our Head Office and Distribution Centre and in field-based roles. 

  • The provision of Occupational Health screening and surveillance programmes in line with legislation and compliance with best practice and provide management teams with information and recommendations for any appropriate actions.

  • Build and maintain close working relationships with HR and H&S team to deliver proactive high standards of case management of work-related ill health and capability cases, in partnership with line managers and all those concerned. 

  • Collaborate with Health & Social Care, primary care and other external agencies and professionals.

  • Play an active role in the promotion, delivery and support of the Company Wellbeing agenda ‘Well Aware’

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of workplace health management/wellbeing strategies and target action areas.

  • Research and keep up to date on changing OH practices/legislation and presenting action plans to ensure compliance.  

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Possess a General Nurse with unrestricted Part 1 (Adult) registration with the NMC additional specialist qualification in Occupational Health Nursing Qualification I.e. Diploma, Degree or MSc Occupational health Nursing AND Currently registered on the 3rd part of the NMC Register

OR

  • Successfully completed an NMC approved Occupational Health Nursing Diploma/Degree course to be eligible for registration on the 3rd part of the NMC Register as an Occupational Health Nurse

AND

  • Considerable experience of the full OH remit in a medium to large commercial organisation including Pre-Placement Health Assessment to meet standards in relation to public protection, employment law Health and Safety associated job role risk, health surveillance, health protection, a strong background in complex case management and rehabilitation, as well as wellbeing at work.

  • The ability to identify opportunities, analyse problems and make well informed decisions.

  • Evidence of an up-to-date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues.

  • Be innovative, persuasive and a good relationship builder with the ability to influence and work collaboratively with a variety of colleagues across a diverse business.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a great people person who can look at things from different viewpoints and deliver results.

  • Ability to view situations from a commercial or business perspective.

  • Full driving licence.
