MPA have been exclusively retained by one of Ontario’s leading Family and Children Services organizations to recruit for a Clinical Psychologist to join their team in Markham. The client is renowned for their clinical programs which include but not limited to are Autism Services, Children & Youth Mental Health & Forensic Mental Health. Their boast a rich history of supporting children & youth through evidence based clinical services which encompasses individual, family and group counselling.

In this role, you will report to the Clinical Lead, Autism Services and will be responsible for providing both Remote and In-Person Services. These services will include in-person psychological assessments, virtual/in-person evidence-based treatment delivery, virtual/in-person consultation, and virtual/in-person training as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.

The candidate will be primarily located out of their Markham office with some travel to other locations is required and is compensated.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Psychological Assessment: Evaluate intellectual, social, emotional, behavior, academic, personality, and daily living functioning for the purpose of diagnostic and treatment planning. Key responsibilities include: Administration of psychological tests and questionnaires, clinical interviewing, data analysis and interpretation, report writing, feedback and communicating diagnoses.

Consultation: Provide consultation for complex cases, treatment planning and service delivery, ethical issues, in internal and/or external clinical and multidisciplinary meetings. This also includes decisions around suitability for services and tailoring treatment plans to meet client’s unique needs and troubleshooting clinical issues that arise.

•Treatment: Deliver evidence-based treatment for complex clients (individual, group and family), formulation and goal setting, documentation, progress monitoring, and discharge planning. This also includes professional development, workshops, independent reading, attending specific treatment team meetings, and peer consultation.

•Development and/or Supervision of support groups: Provide safe place to stimulate discussions designed to support and encourage progress for the group as a whole and for each member as an individual.

•Training/Education: Provide in-service presentations to support capacity building on a variety of topics. Prepare and provide presentations for parents and caregivers related to ASD and mental health including how to support children, understanding the assessment process, how to tell a child and/or others about a diagnosis, discuss available resources and strategies.

•Provide external presentations as requested by community partners. For some, provide regular clinical supervision and training to PhD level psychology graduate students doing practicum placements.

• Administration: Attending agency meetings/training, internal communication, scheduling client and community appointments, managing psychological files and manage documentation.


Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is required.

  • Be registered and a member in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

  • Strong clinical assessment skills in child and adolescent mental health.

  • Proficiency and experience in assessment of autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, ADHD from young childhood up to 25 years of age.

  • Experience with the ADOS-2 and with evidence-based assessment practices

  • An ability to be flexible and responsive in delivering services.

  • Demonstrated clinical experience, proven communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member.

  • Knowledge concerning cultural diversity and proficiency in other languages will be considered assets for this position.

  • Travel is required for this position; the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
