Market Research Interviewer – Temp Part time role
Location: Belfast & surrounding areas, with occasional travel across Northern Ireland
Hours: Part-time – typically 2–3 shifts per week
Shift: Approximately 10:00am – 4:30pm, including an unpaid break
Salary: £13.45 per hour
Contract: Temporary, initially 2 months, with potential for extension
About the Role:
MPA Recruitment is currently recruiting Market Research Interviewers to carry out on-street research across Belfast and surrounding areas.
This is a people-focused role where you will approach members of the public in busy locations and invite them to take part in a short survey. You will use a tablet to conduct interviews and record responses accurately.
The current project involves inviting members of the public to join a research network. You will explain how the network works, what participants can gain from joining, and collect basic contact information.
There may also be opportunities to work on other research projects in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Approach members of the public in high-footfall areas and confidently introduce the survey.
- Clearly explain the purpose of the research and answer basic questions.
- Conduct interviews using a tablet and record responses accurately.
- Encourage members of the public to participate while remaining professional and approachable.
- Collect basic contact details where appropriate.
- Follow project instructions and ensure all information is recorded correctly.
- Check in with the operations team at the beginning of each shift.
- Travel to other towns and locations across Northern Ireland when required.
- Communicate effectively with the operations team throughout the assignment.
What We’re Looking For:
Previous market research or on-street interviewing experience would be beneficial, but full training will be provided and candidates from a range of backgrounds are welcome to apply.
We are particularly interested in people who are:
- Confident and comfortable approaching members of the public.
- Friendly, approachable and able to communicate clearly.
- Resilient and able to handle occasional refusals professionally.
- Comfortable using tablets and touchscreen technology.
- Reliable and committed to the shifts they agree to work.
- Able to work independently while maintaining communication with the operations team.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in busy public locations.
- Flexible to work a mixture of weekday and weekend shifts.
A driving licence or access to a car is not essential, as public transport can be used, although access to a vehicle would be beneficial for travelling to some locations.
Working Hours & Flexibility
This is a part-time position, typically offering around 2–3 shifts per week, although this can be discussed depending on availability.
Days are flexible and shifts may include a mixture of weekdays and weekends.
Typical shifts are expected to run from approximately 10:00am to 4:30pm, including an unpaid break.
The role is therefore particularly suited to candidates looking for flexible, part-time work rather than full-time employment.
Locations & Travel
The majority of work will be based in Belfast and surrounding areas, with occasional travel to locations including:
- Derry/Londonderry
- Newry
- Omagh
- Enniskillen
- Other towns across Northern Ireland
Additional travel time/expenses may be available for longer-distance assignments, with arrangements confirmed in advance depending on the shift and location.
Training
Successful candidates will attend a 4-hour training session in Belfast, consisting of:
- 90 minutes of interviewer training
- 2-hour practical session in the local area
- 30-minute feedback session
The practical session will provide candidates with an opportunity to experience the role before undertaking further shifts.
The training session will be added to the timesheet where the candidate completes the initial training and subsequently completes two shifts.

- Initially a 2-month temporary assignment
- Potential for the assignment to be extended
- Immediate start available
- Part-time hours
- £13.45 per hour for interviewing time
