About the Role:

MPA Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Safeguarding professional to join our client’s team as an Equality & Safeguarding Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong knowledge of equality legislation, policy development and safeguarding practices to take a lead role in supporting organisational EDI objectives and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of the Equality Scheme, Disability Action Plan and EDI objectives.
  • Develop and maintain equality policies, procedures and best practice approaches in line with relevant legislation, including Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
  • Lead equality screening, equality impact assessments and monitoring activities.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to managers, staff and stakeholders on Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Safeguarding matters.
  • Manage equality-related complaints and support safeguarding complaints and statutory compliance activities.
  • Prepare and coordinate responses to FOI requests, Subject Access Requests, Assembly Questions and other statutory requests.
  • Develop and deliver EDI and safeguarding training, awareness initiatives and engagement activities.
  • Manage EDI projects, affirmative action plans and organisational initiatives.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, statutory consultees and relevant organisations.
  • Research and review legislation, policy and best practice to ensure organisational policies remain current.
  • Prepare business cases, tenders and quotations where required.
  • Provide support and cover for the EDIS Manager as required.

 

What We’re Looking for?

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant subject such as Human Resources, Law, Public/Social Policy, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion;

or

a degree/equivalent qualification supported by relevant professional development, training and experience.

  • At least 3 years’ experience managing a range of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives within a large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion legislation, policy and best practice.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.

Significant experience in at least 3 of the following areas:

  • Equality legislation and Section 75 compliance.
  • Evaluation and reporting on EDI initiatives and their impact.
  • Equality screening, equality impact assessments, consultation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Development and delivery of EDI training, engagement or awareness initiatives.
  • Providing specialist EDI advice and guidance to managers and staff.
