About the Role:

On behalf of our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE), MPA Recruitment is inviting applications for Clerical Officers based at the Housing Centre in Belfast.

This temporary role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking administrative experience in a busy, professional office environment. As a Clerical Officer, you will provide essential support to the Housing Services team, helping to ensure smooth office operations, efficient handling of customer queries, and effective delivery of frontline services.

You will be part of a dynamic team making a real difference to local communities while developing your administrative and customer service skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As a Clerical Officer, your duties will include:

Administrative Support

  • Answering telephone calls, taking messages, and managing post and emails.
  • Drafting letters, responses, and other correspondence on behalf of managers.
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting business performance reporting.

Customer Service

  • Responding promptly to queries and providing a professional, customer-focused service.
  • Assisting colleagues in ensuring smooth office operations and service delivery.

Data Management & Ad Hoc Tasks

  • Supporting data entry, database management, and other ad hoc administrative duties.
  • Providing cover for colleagues and managers as required.
  • Working independently to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
 

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Criteria:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and remain motivated.
  • Compassionate, customer-focused approach with a desire to support service users.
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using computer systems (training provided).
  • Ability to manage tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grades A–C (including English) or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 1 year of administrative experience.
 

Additional Information:

  • A Basic Access NI Check is Required at a cost of £16.
