​MPA recruitment Armagh are working on behalf of our client to recruit a Band 7 Speech & Language therapist(children with complex needs), within the local Health & Social Care Trusts based Trust-wide.

JOB SUMMARY

The Post holder will be responsible to manage and independently provide a highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service to children with complex needs as part of the Trust wide multi-professional teams and in Educational settings/Clinics within the Trust, as required.

The postholder will be required to promote collaborative working practices within Health and Social Care and Education Teams.

This post has responsibility for providing specialist clinical assessment and advice, teaching, guidance, supervision and support to less experienced Speech and Language Therapy colleagues, other professionals and unqualified workers.

The post will involve working on a day to day basis with children who have a range of complex communication disorders and associated medical and developmental difficulties including eg Autism, Learning Difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder and ADHD.

The post will require communicating and working closely and effectively with health, Social Care and Educational professionals and parents / carers and requires highly developed interpersonal skills including empathy, negotiation and counseling skills.

The post holder will also be required to undertake research, development and audit activities in relation to the specialty.

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (as per Personnel Specification)

Degree or Diploma in Speech and language Therapy OR a related Degree with post graduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy

AND Registered member of HCPC and RCSLT.

Minimum 4 years post-qualification clinical experience to include 3 years’ experience working with children with complex needs

Evidence of completion of significant specialist short courses to Masters degree or equivalent e.g., TEACCH, PECS , ADOS, Sensory Integration, Makaton etc or relevant postgraduate masters modules

Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.

***37.5 hours per week, Monday- Friday 9:00m start***
