​MPA Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading medical device company who is paving the way with breakthrough products within this space. We are currently recruiting a Solutions Architect (Embedded) to join their team to be based in Toronto or Ottawa.

They are looking for a Solutions Architect (Team Lead) to join the Product Development Team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop software applications, drivers, and other components for using with and in their products by analyzing customer and market demands, and proposing solutions. This will include a wide variety of development projects, such as product configuration and demonstration tools, device drivers, components, and other specialized applications. The ideal candidate will be able to independently handle a design project from concept through to release, including interaction with all project stakeholders.

 

What you’ll be working on:

·       Designing wearable embedded software solutions on Android Open Source Project (AOSP)

·       Work with the product design team to document and implement functional and technical requirements

·       Configure, design and maintain existing applications across embedded devices including bug fixes and feature enhancements

·       Work cross functionally with product management, mechanical and electrical teams to understand requirements

·       Establish best practices for SW development, test, and deployment

·       Liaise with internal and external stakeholders

Skills and Competencies:

·       5+ years experience in firmware, embedded device SW application programming and design, with focus on AOSP

·       Strong Android (Java/Native) programming experience

·       Familiarity with Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), kernel and driver development

·       Solution architecture development experience in embedded software systems

·       Systems software expertise in developing modular software for embedded software applications

·       Experience designing software APIs, managing make files and build environment

·       Understanding of communications protocols such as Bluetooth and WiFi

·       Knowledge of OpenGL libraries, and prior experience with with Bitbucket and JIRA

·       Intellectual curiosity with a strong aptitude in hardware, software, and cloud-based technologies
