Security/Car Parking Assistant
Location: Belfast/Greater Belfast
Hours: Full-time, rotating day and night shifts
About the Role:
MPA Recruitment is currently seeking applications for the position of Security / Car Parking Assistant on behalf of our client.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced security professional to join a busy operational environment where you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment for staff, visitors and service users.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a varied range of security, car parking and general support duties. You will be required to respond to incidents, carry out regular patrols, monitor access and report security concerns, while providing a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
This is a varied role requiring individuals who are confident, observant and able to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging or unexpected situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Security & Safety
- Carry out regular internal and external security patrols, both on foot and by vehicle.
- Respond promptly to calls for security assistance and reported incidents.
- Respond to suspicious, threatening or aggressive behaviour and challenge unauthorised persons where appropriate.
- Help protect staff, visitors, service users, property and organisational assets.
- Respond to intruder alarm activations and take appropriate action in line with training and procedures.
- Report security breaches, faults, damage, incidents and accidents through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain accurate security logs, records and incident reports.
- Assist with the investigation of incidents, accidents, losses and other security-related matters.
- Liaise with relevant external agencies, including the PSNI, when required.
- Provide escorts for staff who have concerns about their personal safety where appropriate.
- Support emergency and major incident arrangements as required.
- Follow all relevant health and safety, security and organisational policies and procedures.
- Correctly use security equipment and PPE provided for the role and report any loss or damage.
- Assist with CCTV-related duties following completion of the required training and accreditation.
- Handle confidential waste and other sensitive materials in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Take possession of lost property and deal with it appropriately.
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide a courteous, customer-focused service at all times.
Car Parking
- Support the day-to-day management of car parking facilities.
- Monitor traffic flow throughout the site and identify potential issues or obstructions.
- Report unauthorised parking, obstructions and other car parking concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Assist with maintaining safe and accessible routes within car parks and surrounding areas.
- Support staff, visitors and service users with car parking-related queries where appropriate.
- Assist with car parking arrangements during emergencies or major incidents.
- Help ensure access is maintained for priority personnel and essential services when required.
Portering & General Support
- Provide support with priority portering duties when demand exceeds available portering resources.
- Assist with the movement and escort of cash to the relevant cash office.
- Support the movement of equipment, items and materials as required within the limits of the role and training provided.
- Assist wider support services with operational tasks when required.
- Carry out periodic cleaning duties where required.
- Report obstructions within passageways, entrances, footpaths, fire escapes and roadways.
- Report damage to property and equipment failures through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain a clean, safe and uncluttered working environment.
- Complete any other duties appropriate to the grade and requirements of the role.
What We’re Looking for?
Essential Criteria
- Must be 18 years of age or over.
- Minimum of 2 years' previous experience working in a security role.
- Current full UK driving licence valid for use in the UK.
- Full driving licence must permit the holder to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to use initiative and work independently.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability and willingness to work rotating day and night shifts.
- Strong awareness of health, safety and security procedures.
- Professional, reliable and customer-focused approach.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working within a busy or high-footfall environment.
- Experience responding to incidents or dealing with challenging behaviour.
- Experience working alongside emergency services or other external agencies.
- Experience of maintaining security logs, incident reports or other operational records.
- Previous experience within healthcare, public sector, commercial, retail or other complex environments.
Additional Information:
- An Enhanced Access NI Check may be required for this role.
