About the Role:
MPA Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Accountant on behalf of our client.
This is an excellent opportunity for a professionally qualified accountant to join a busy finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial accounting, reporting and governance activities.
The successful candidate will support senior finance colleagues across areas including annual accounts preparation, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit, financial controls and stakeholder management. The role would suit an experienced finance professional who is confident working with complex financial information and operating within established governance and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and delivery of annual financial accounts and associated financial reporting.
- Prepare financial returns and reports accurately and within required deadlines.
- Maintain effective financial control frameworks and ensure timely reconciliation of control accounts.
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including fixed asset and capital accounting information where required.
- Work closely with internal finance functions and shared service providers to ensure efficient financial processes.
- Provide technical accounting support and advice to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ensure financial activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and professional standards.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing information and supporting the completion of audit requirements.
- Monitor financial processes and identify opportunities for improved controls, efficiency and accuracy.
- Supervise or support finance functions where required, ensuring effective governance and financial accuracy.
- Contribute to financial reporting, risk management and wider corporate governance activities.
- Analyse complex financial information and provide clear, accurate information to support decision-making.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Criteria
- Full membership of a recognised professional accountancy body, such as CCAB or CIMA.
- Minimum of 1 year's relevant finance experience following completion of final accountancy examinations.
- At least 2 years' experience of stakeholder management, with evidence of leadership, governance or supervisory responsibilities.
- Proven experience analysing complex financial information and delivering accurate results within deadlines.
- Experience working with financial controls, reconciliations, reporting and audit processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders at different levels.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience using financial systems and databases.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience within a public sector, healthcare, regulated or highly governed environment.
- Experience of statutory or annual accounts preparation.
- Experience working with external and internal audit teams.
- Knowledge of corporate governance, risk management and financial control frameworks.
- Experience supervising or supporting finance teams.
