Salary: £16.90 per hour

About the Role:

On behalf of our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, MPA Recruitment is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Officer based in Lisburn.

The successful candidate will inspect domestic properties, identify maintenance requirements and authorise necessary works. You will work closely with tenants, contractors and Housing Executive colleagues to ensure repairs meet the required quality, cost and completion standards.

This opportunity would suit someone with experience in the design, improvement or maintenance of domestic properties who is keen to work within the public sector.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Property Inspections & Maintenance

  • Carry out scheduled inspections of Housing Executive properties to assess maintenance requirements.
  • Authorise contractors to complete necessary maintenance works in line with agreed standards.
  • Work with colleagues responsible for allocations to ensure vacant properties are maintained and prepared for re-letting.

Quality Assurance & Contractor Liaison

  • Inspect completed works to check compliance with quality, cost and time requirements.
  • Approve works for payment where appropriate.
  • Identify and report concerns about maintenance service delivery to contractors.
  • Follow up on issues to ensure remedial action is taken promptly.
  • Monitor service standards and highlight areas requiring improvement.

Tenant Support & Communication

  • Provide tenants with guidance on maintenance policies and their responsibilities for upkeep within their homes.
  • Keep tenants informed about the progress of works and expected completion timescales.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with tenants, contractors and colleagues.

Administration & Record Keeping

  • Complete accurate inspection records and maintenance documentation.
  • Maintain records relating to completed works and contractor performance.
  • Support the delivery of an effective and organised maintenance service.
 

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Criteria:

Applicants must demonstrate one of the following:

  • A degree in Building Studies, or equivalent, with at least one year’s relevant experience.

OR

  • A BTEC Higher Diploma in Building Studies, or equivalent, with at least two years’ relevant experience.

OR

  • At least four years’ relevant experience.

Relevant experience must include working on the design, improvement or maintenance of domestic properties.

 

Additional Information:

  • A Basic Access NI Check is Required at a cost of £16.
