Job Role: - Assistant Procurement Officer

The client’s facilities are a well renowned Centre of Procurement Expertise. Established under the Northern Ireland Public Procurement Policy as approved by the Northern Ireland Assembly. PaLS is the sole provider of professional supplies and services which provides services to our client’s various departments, Board and Agencies in Northern Ireland, covering contracting, logistics, warehousing, purchasing, capital equipping, ICT and E-commerce.

The goods and services expenditure currently managed for our clients’ organisations is in excess of £650m p.a. and involves around 340 staff, with an operating budget of around £12.6m p.a. and a warehouse turnover of £44m p.a. Our client is also expanding its social care procurement division in light of recent legislative changes through which it is expected that expenditure influenced will grow to circa £1.4bn of goods and services spend per annum on behalf of the client.

Location: - Belfast

Hours of Work: - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: - £10.40

What the role entails:

Purchasing goods and services in accordance with the client’s procedures to achieve value for money

· Liaising with and providing assistance to customers on procurement matters

· Operating a PC and computer systems to facilitate the delivery of a procurement service

· Resolving invoice queries in conjunction with our clients Shared Services to ensure prompt payment of suppliers

· Responding to queries from suppliers

· Liaising with the client’s colleagues in all PaLS sites on procurement related matters including the participation in groups (if required)

· Any other duties as required within the Band of the post

Essential Experience:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade A-C to include Mathematics and English OR relevant NVQ Level 2 or GNVQ qualification plus 1 year’s relevant experience**

OR

Two (2) years relevant work-based experience**.

**Relevant experience should be within a general commercial/business environment and could include customer service, retail, clerical, and/or administration work.

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrate knowledge of a purchasing and supply and/or finance related computerised and e-commerce systems.
  • Be studying or be prepared to study for a relevant professional qualification.
