Band 6 Biomedical Scientist – Haematology

Altnagelvin Hospital | Temporary Block Booking Until December 2026

Rate of Pay: £19.78 – £39.57 per hour, depending on shift pattern and hours worked

We are currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology Laboratory at Altnagelvin Hospital on a temporary block-booking basis until December 2026.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern

• Routine: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm

• Extended: Monday–Sunday, 9am–8pm

• Nights: Monday–Sunday, 8pm–9am

• Candidates will be required to participate in the above shifts as required, with the role primarily focused on night shifts.

Essential Requirements

• HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist

• IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline plus at least 1 year’s post-HCPC registration experience, or Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist experience for 3 of the last 6 years

• Relevant experience in Haematology/Blood Transfusion or the applicable laboratory discipline

• Good Health and Safety awareness and commitment to CPD

• Strong teamwork, communication and reliability

• Willingness to participate in a 24-hour service and travel between sites when required

• Full UK driving licence and access to a car, subject to applicable exemptions

• An Enhanced Access NI disclosure is required for this role.
