MPA are currently recruiting a Production Support Worker on behalf of our client, who is one of the leading authorities in the public sector.
The postholder will support over labelling and repacking of medicines and sterile / nonsterile manufacturing. He/she will work in the stores area and participate in clean room cleaning.
This is a joint post working across 2 services in the Pharmacy Plenum Building. It is a great opportunity for learning in both a pharmacy production and laboratory area. You will work 37.5 hours per week, and you will initially be trained in specific areas that are identified by your manager as priority.

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: £12.71 PH
- General Responsibilities:
The post holder will be trained and be required to
- Cleaning of laboratory glassware
- Processing of microbiological plates
- Supporting sterility testing in the clean room
- Other duties as appropriate to the role and capacity to undertake
- In VP the post holder will be trained and
- be required to participate in Grade B-D clean room cleaning after a period of training and validation, on a fair and equitable basis.
- production team providing receipt, distribution, store, over labelling and repacking within ground floor Plenum. The post holder will be trained to operate under good manufacturing practice, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Ensuring that material is properly stored in compliance with the Medicines Act and manufacturers recommendations regarding thermo-liability, photo-liability etc.
- Ensuring that stock is rotated to avoid loss due to expiry recommendations being exceeded.
Pharmacy Services are provided from a number of locations across the Belfast Trust. - Periodically for business continuity purposes and ensuring service delivery you will be required to work, within your sphere of competence, on other pharmacy sites within the Trust.
- Daily cleaning of the clean area floors and surfaces. After planned maintenance or breakdown, cleaning floors, surfaces, walls and ceilings. Cleaning effectiveness is monitored on a weekly basis.
- Capping or heat-sealing containers as appropriate.
- Preparation of assembly rooms for over labelling and repackaging including batch record card and label generation.
- Labelling and packing of products into forms suitable for issue.
- Completing all necessary over label and repackage documentation appropriate to their input.
- Placing batches in quarantine and forwarding samples to Quality Control.
- Upon authorisation from Quality Control, removing batches from quarantine and placing in store, ready for issue.
- Receipting and checking deliveries from various suppliers.
- Ensuring where they are discrepancies that these are managed immediately by reporting formally to the operational lead or person delegated and the supplier and the administration team email address.
- Ensuring delivery dockets are appropriately endorsed and where there are discrepancies that an immediate record is made of the discrepancy and reported as above.
- On authorisation from Quality Control, removing the batch from quarantine and placing in store, ready for issue.
- Completing all necessary stores and assembly documentation appropriate to their input.
- To undertake assembly and distribution to clients under the wholesale distribution authorisation.
Essential Criteria:
- 5 GCSE's grades A-G or equivalent, must include Maths and English.
OR
Hold a BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Principles and Practise for Pharmacy Support Staff or an NVQ2 Pharmacy Services (or equivalent in Pharmacy Services).
- Willing to undertake a BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff.
- Be willing to undertake formal training in Good Manufacturing Practice commensurate with the responsibilities of the post and a programme of accreditation in printing, labelling, over labelling and repacking of medicines.
Desirable Criteria:
- GCSE in a core Science subject grade
C / 4 or above.
- Experience of working within hospital or community pharmaceutical Team OR Experience of Working in stock management such as Stores/Warehouse/Distribution Centre.
