About the Role:

MPA Recruitment, on behalf of the Client is seeking an experienced HR Administrator to join the Employee Services Team within the People and Culture Directorate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and customer-focused HR professional to provide confidential administrative support across a broad range of HR functions, including employee records, payroll, absence, leave, recruitment and HR systems.


Key Responsibilities:

HR Administration & Employee Services

  • Provide professional and confidential administrative support across a range of HR functions.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, databases and HR information systems.
  • Process documentation relating to maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, flexible working, career breaks and other employee matters.
  • Administer probationary reviews, annual leave, sickness absence and employee exit processes.
  • Support monthly HR and payroll processes, ensuring information is accurate and deadlines are met.

Recruitment & Customer Support

  • Support recruitment and resourcing activities, including agency worker requirements and candidate assessments.
  • Respond to HR enquiries through shared inboxes, telephone calls and correspondence.
  • Provide guidance and signposting to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and terms and conditions.
  • Deliver a professional and customer-focused service to internal and external stakeholders.

Records, Data & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based records in line with GDPR and records retention policies.
  • Produce HR reports, statistics and management information as required.
  • Support responses to Freedom of Information requests, Data Protection requests and other statutory enquiries.
  • Ensure HR systems and databases are regularly updated and data integrity is maintained.

Systems & General Support

  • Use HR information systems, Microsoft Office applications and databases to support service delivery.
  • Assist with system improvements, data migration and the development of more efficient HR processes.
  • Support HR meetings, including note taking, and assist with HR events and training.
  • Maintain office supplies and raise procurement requisitions where required.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Criteria

  • Five GCSEs (Grades A–C / 9–4), including English and Maths, plus at least 1 year's experience in a demanding office environment; OR
  • At least 2 years' experience working in a demanding office environment carrying out a range of business support duties.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience providing effective customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.

Desirable

  • HR administration experience within a large, multi-site organisation.
  • HR qualification or currently working towards one.
  • Experience within local government or the public sector.
