Job description
MPA Recruitment is currently supporting the Northern Ireland Housing Executive in the recruitment of a Hostel Assistant to work alongside our management team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive secretarial support to professional staff and assisting with the efficient day-to-day running of the office, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service.
Working Hours and Pay:
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Rate: £13.69 per hour
- Payment: Weekly
- Additional: Holiday entitlement included
Skills we are looking for:
- Patient and respectful: able to listen to tenants and respond sensitively.
- Calm under pressure: comfortable handling an upset person or a difficult conversation.
- Observant: notices welfare concerns, hazards or repairs and reports them promptly.
- Organised: keeps accurate records and follows up issues.
- Good judgement: understands confidentiality, professional boundaries and when to seek help.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tenant liaison duties. (Property access arrangements, basic welfare checks and assistance)
- General office administrative duties. (Referral of repair and tenant support issues etc)
- Mandated property checks (Hostel fire checks, communal and bin area condition checks etc)
- Cleaning and basic maintenance of hostel flats and communal areas. (COSHH controlled products, hoovering and cleaning floors etc)
- Delivery of tenant starter packs (microwaves, kettles etc)
- Dispersed property district duties. (tenant liaison in locale to assist Patch Manager/Team Leader etc
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications:
- 4 GCSEs (Grade A–C), including English Language and Mathematics.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year’s paid clerical experience in an office environment, including use of Microsoft Office applications.
- IT Proficiency: Intermediate
- Access to a car
