MPA Recruitment Derry/LDerry are currently recruiting for Streetscape Operatives 

KEY PURPOSE

To undertake general cleaning services in all weather conditions using a diverse range of equipment in the effective delivery of front line street cleansing services within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.

Street Cleansing Services are provided to all areas within the Council district.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Streetscape Operatives will be required to:

Undertake cleansing and de-littering duties as directed.  This may include working individually or as part of a team using manual and or mechanical equipment.

Undertake sweeping and cleansing operations in accordance with allocated work schedules ensuring that all operations are completed in full consideration of local and national quality standards.  Dispose of waste materials at designated disposal points.

Ensure that cleansing operations, including use of equipment, are carried out in full consideration of health and safety obligations, safe systems of work, operating procedures, reporting all incidents and accidents to the supervisor.

Complete and maintain records with regard to work patterns, customer complaints, service issues, defective litter bins, fly tipping etc, reporting to supervisor/nominated officer as appropriate.  Completion and return to accident/incident reports to supervisor.

Carry out daily equipment checks reporting defects to the supervisor/nominated officer.  Undertake daily maintenance and cleansing of equipment.

Undertake a directed, general labouring/cleaning duties to include washing of street name plates, signage, street furniture, information panels, ice/snow clearing etc.

Assist, advise and deal with enquiries/complaints from the public, in the delivery of services in a polite, courteous and professional manner.  Report all complaints/service enquiries to supervisor and distribute customer information leaflets etc.

Act with due care for the health and safety of self, other employees and the general public and comply with any guidelines set down by the Council, legislation etc.

Any other duties which may be reasonably assigned provided such duties are within the competence of the postholder.

To conduct all duties in such a way as to promote and develop the reputation and public profile of the Council and participate in the Municipal Waste Management Services training, induction and staff development programme(s).

Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures.

Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time.

Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
