MPA Recruitment has been appointed by a dynamic and fast-growing energy trading and services company to recruit a Senior Trading Analyst to join their team in Dublin. The company is active in the international trade of electricity in Ireland and the UK. The company’s ambitious growth plans will see it trade in several more international jurisdictions in the coming years. 

As a Senior Trading Analyst you will work within the Analysis Desk in the European Trading business unit. You will provide in-depth knowledge and analytical support with a specific focus on the European power markets. The role involves a close working relationship with the Power trading desk requiring the successful candidate to be instrumental in developing a series of bespoke trading strategies, reports, price forecasting models and analytical trading tools.  You will support trading decisions by providing accurate cross-power market analysis and trading strategies as well as having the ability to methodically synthesize data in order to provide in depth, coherent and considered market views, ultimately influencing both company and individual trading desk strategies. 

You will be instrumental in developing and supporting in-house analytical tools for the long term power market analysis team and the power trading desk. For example, but not limited to: fundamental analysis, stack and supply demand modelling and price forecasting.  You will also be confident in communicating effectively to a wide range of clients (both internal and external) in presentations and internal company meetings. 

You will hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or similar along with 5+ years experience in the European power sector.

You will have previous experience in European Power Stack Modelling and experience in some or all of the following: Statistics (esp. Time Series Analysis), Machine Learning, Optimization, Trading Strategy Development. You will have proven coding skills preferably in Python and familiarity with using large datasets and querying SQL databases.

You will be rewarded with a competitive package negotiable depending on experience.
