Regional Commissioning and Optimization Technician

MPA Recruitment has been retained by a global leader in the bulk material handling sector to recruit a Regional Commissioning and Optimization Technician for their US team. You will join a global leader in natural processing and waste recycling dedicated to transforming waste materials into valuable resources. The Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Regional Commissioning and Optimization Technician to join their operations team. In this role, you will:

  • Commission standard projects and lead commissioning efforts for more complex initiatives.
  • Support business development through customer and site visits, collaborating with our technical experts to craft optimal solutions.
  • Provide after-sales support by troubleshooting issues, coordinating additional resources, and performing planned or unplanned maintenance—including PMI visits and customer breakdowns.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by delivering detailed site reports and recommendations to enhance processes and product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Testing: Install field modifications and perform comprehensive testing.
  • Commissioning Activities: Execute static commissioning tasks including checks per established commissioning check sheets and dead testing protocols.
  • Technical Coordination: Analyze and utilize technical drawings to guide vendors in integrating electromechanical systems, and perform PLC and HMI tests while coordinating updates with Automation Engineers.
  • Dynamic Commissioning: Follow commissioning procedures to ensure equipment is properly started up and balanced before optimization efforts.
  • Collaboration: Assist other disciplines and vendors in overlapping work areas, embracing a flexible work approach.
  • Safety & Housekeeping: Attend regular safety meetings, strictly adhere to all safety regulations (including the Permit to Work system), and maintain a tidy work environment at job sites, workshops, and control rooms.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Siemens/Rockwell Automation Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems.
    • Proven ability to test and diagnose instruments such as flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and density meters using tools like multi-meters and pressure gauges.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, or 5 years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Competence in performing electrical and mechanical modifications on site.
    • Familiarity with Windows-based software, design packages (e.g., AutoCAD), and interpreting P&ID flow diagrams.
    • Strong customer management and communication skills to effectively address inquiries and maintain customer confidence.
