MPA are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the cost control and financial management of construction projects, from inception to completion.

Job Summary:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for estimating, managing, and controlling costs throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. You will provide expert advice on cost estimation, value engineering, procurement, and contract management. This is a key role that requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with project teams, clients, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting; Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects based on the initial design, project specifications, and scope of work. Review project documentation to determine cost and schedule implications.
  • Cost Management & Control: Monitor and track costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that the project stays within budget. Identify cost overruns or potential financial risks early and work with project teams to mitigate them.
  • Tendering & Procurement: Manage the preparation and submission of tenders and bids. Review contractors' quotations, assess their financial stability, and advise on the selection of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Contract Administration: Draft, review, and manage contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations. Prepare and negotiate variations, claims, and disputes.
  • Value Engineering & Cost Optimization: Work with project teams to identify opportunities for cost savings, alternative construction methods, and value engineering to ensure that the project delivers optimum value for money.
  • Risk Management: Assess and manage project risks, including cost-related risks, and provide strategies to minimize or eliminate these risks. Work closely with the project team to develop and maintain risk registers.
  • Client Liaison: Communicate regularly with clients, contractors, and suppliers to provide updates on project costs, potential issues, and solutions. Build and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Site Visits & Inspections: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify quantities, ensure quality, and assess any issues that may impact cost or schedule.
  • Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Membership in a professional body such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction/engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building materials, and cost estimating software (e.g., Procore, CostX, WinQS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and relevant industry software.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess large volumes of data, identify discrepancies, and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to identify challenges early, offer solutions, and manage conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement methods, and relevant legislation.
