MPA are excited to me recruiting for a Leisure Attendant for the Antrim Area.

Job Descriptions

  • Responsible for carrying out duties in all areas of Leisure to ensure a high quality service is provided to all customers.

  • To provide a safe clean and presentable environment for customers.

  • To provide a professional high standard of lifeguarding service for council pool users

  • Supervise and assist customers throughout the leisure centre to ensure their safe and enjoyable use of the facilities and involvement in activities (includes all internal and external activity and non-activity areas)

  • Proactively and reactively supervise pools, spas and other water facilities, providing an efficient and effective lifeguard service, obtaining and maintaining the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

  • Provide a reactive service to respond to and assist with the following in an efficient, effective manner ensuring that all details are recorded accurately;

     All emergency situation and evacuations

     First aid requirements where required

     Incidents and accidents

  • Attend regular staff training specific to the NPLQ, health and safety, evacuation procedures and all other essential and corporate training.

  • Carry out supervision, set ups, cleaning, assisting customers in activity areas other than the pool e.g. children’s play facilities, external parks, pitches, sports halls, activity rooms, special events (list in indicative and not definitive)

  • Ensure hygiene is maintained throughout the centre by regular cleaning, using appropriate equipment and chemicals, and completing the relevant documentation

  • Demonstrate a team approach to achieving the objectives of the Section through full flexibility in relation to tasks undertaken.

  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer service including taking ownership of customer queries and complaints and following issues through to completion.

  • Comply with, and ensure that other staff comply with, Council’s policies and procedures including those relating to health, safety, wellbeing and safeguarding.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a current Royal Life Saving Society National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) OR equivalent which is valid for that least 6 months from date of application

  • Shortlisted applicants must undertake and pass a swim competency assessment to be progressed to the interview stage of recruitment. Details of swim test competency below

  • Applicants will be required to produce evidence of their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification at the swim competency assessment

  • Minimum 3 months experience of working with the public in a customer service environment

  • Strong swimmer

  • Commitment to the provision of a high quality public service

  • Enjoy working as part of a team

  • Respectful in all interaction with others

  • Good working knowledge of an interest in sport

  • Have a flexible approach to working
