Job Description

MPA Ballymena is currently recruiting on behalf of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) for a Band 4 Higher Clerical Officer to be based in the Antrim area. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying both Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and non-EDI pharmacy invoices and determining their approval for payment before forwarding them to the Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Invoice Processing: Verify EDI and non-EDI pharmacy invoices, making final payment decisions and forwarding approved invoices to Finance.
• Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex invoice queries through liaison with internal departments, pharmacy staff, and suppliers.
• Stock & Pricing Accuracy: Identify discrepancies in product details (e.g. brand, strength, quantity) and system errors; apply knowledge of stock valuation, contracts, and pricing agreements.
• Manual Data Handling: Interpret and verify manual invoices and credits, ensuring accuracy before submission.
• Database & Record Maintenance: Input and manage medical and pharmaceutical data in internal systems; maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Administrative Support: Carry out general office duties including word processing, filing, scheduling meetings, and spreadsheet management related to contract and invoice tracking.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following qualification and experience pathways:

• Option 1- HNC/HND or equivalent plus 1 year of experience in a financial/clerical setting
• Option 2- 5 GCSEs (Grades A–C) including English and Mathematics plus recent clerical experience in a financial setting
• Option 3- GCSEs in English Language and Mathematics plus 5 years of recent clerical experience in a financial setting

Working Hours & Pay

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Hourly Rate: £13.57
• Weekly Pay
• Holiday pay entitlement
