On behalf of our Client, MPA Recruitment welcomes suitable applications for the role of Head Chef for our client located in Portstewart. The successful candidate will be working in a busy restaurant/bar complex.

Location: Portstewart

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Salary range: £18.00

Duration: Temporary to Permanent

Key Responsibilities:,

• To ensure that resources are used in a cost-effective manner.
• To implement and manage the necessary procedures and processes related to all areas of HACCP food preparation - stock rotation, chilling, refrigeration, freezing, cooking, and temperature control to ensure that set food safety standards are met.
• To manage staff absences, including planning of duty rotas.
• To oversee and undertake where necessary, cleaning schedules and procedures to maintain a safe and clean kitchen in accordance with HACCP.
• To work closely and supervise volunteers working in the kitchen area, ensuring that all standards of food quality and safety are maintained.

Essential:

• Possess a recognised qualification in catering, i.e. NVQ 3, City & Guilds 706/1 or equivalent qualifications.
• Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience (excluding courses/leave) of cooking in a healthcare, commercial or industrial environment.
• Experience of managing or supervising a team.
• Experience in Budget Setting / Management and ordering supplies and equipment.
• Up to date with current food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
• Experience of menu planning and producing high quality meals to meet a range of dietary requirements (special and ethnic diets).
• Ability to work flexible hours and participate in a staff rota which includes weekends and evenings and to work additional hours to cover periods of annual leave.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working in a similar role in a healthcare setting.
• Level 4 Advanced Certificate in Food Safety
