MPA Recruitment has been appointed by a successful and growing energy business to source a Graduate Systems Developer to join their team in Dublin. The business has a presence across nine European countries working with trading counterparties ranging from utilities and generators to trading houses and energy exchanges.

This is a new role being created within the Trading Team to manage and maintain the extensive codebase and associated database that assists in day to day trading decision making. You will work closely with the Trading and Analysis teams to devise and deliver solutions to problems as well as playing the lead role in delivering incremental system developments.

You will own, track and resolve database and data collection related incidents and change requests. You will be responsible for performing routine database and codebase maintenance (e.g: database backups, maintenance, script testing and performance monitoring) according to best practice standards as well as responding to any related alerts. You will also establish a system for tracking and updating the status of projects, actively initiating and performing changes on production and test systems as well as flagging up any issues are likely to negatively impact upon company operations.

You will be degree qualified in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, mathematics. It is desired, but not essential, that you have programming experience in either scripting languages (preferably Python), MySQL or Agile methodologies. You will deliver your work to a high standard and be comfortable communicating with colleagues in the business at all levels.
