Job Role: Estates Multi-skilled Maintenance Craftsperson (Joiner)

Working within the clients Estates Service Team, the purpose of the Multiskilled Maintenance Craftsperson (Joiner) role, is to carry out a wide range of planned and unplanned tasks, ensuring the safe, effective and economic installation and maintenance of the client’s engineering systems and physical assets.

Salary: £11.20 Per hour

What the role entails:

  • The job holder will be expected to carry out a wide range of planned and unplanned, Building maintenance and installation tasks in a safe, effective and economic manner.
  • The jobholder must participate in the client’s Labour Management Scheme and have the ability to use a range of computer-based systems and developing technologies.
  • The jobholder will be expected to have the aptitude to follow written instructions, guidance, drawings and specifications with the minimum of supervision.
  • The jobholder will be expected to carry out his/her work in a diligent and timely manner.
  • The jobholder will be expected to participate in a range of training and development activities, and pass such knowledge and skills onto others.
  • The jobholder will be expected to show an appropriate level of cross-trade flexibility.
  • The jobholder will be expected to work across multiple locations for the client, travelling in a client supplied vehicle or his/her own transport.
  • Given the 24/7 nature of the role the post holder will be required to participate in any on call service that becomes a feature of this role in the future (additional remuneration applies).
  • If and when required, the jobholder will be expected to work regular, planned or unplanned overtime or shift working - sometimes at short notice (additional remuneration applies).

  • The job holder must comply with all relevant legislation, guidance and the clients Procedures, Policies and Codes of Practice

Essential Criteria:

Experience of carrying out joinery and building maintenance repairs.

Experience in the use of woodworking machinery and hand / power tools.

Experience of undertaking tasks of other engineering / Building trade groups.

Completed a formal Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship.

In addition to his/her apprenticeship, the applicant must hold a relevant qualification at QCF/NQF Level 3 (or higher) together with a minimum of two years post apprenticeship experience(*)

OR

at QCF/NQF Level 2 (or higher) together with a minimum of five years post apprenticeship experience(*)

Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the client which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

And

The personal skills required to manage day-to-day activities that occur in a maintenance environment.

The ability to best use Safe Systems of Work.

Working knowledge of maintenance activities in a healthcare building environment.

Working knowledge and experience in the use of woodworking machinery and hand/ power tools

Working knowledge of fire Compartmentation within buildings.

Working knowledge and experience of undertaking tasks of other engineering / Building trade groups.
