MPA has been appointed by one of the fastest growing and leading Digital Health organisations in North America to source an Engineering Manager, Web to join their growing team. This role also has remote options. You will be joining an organisation that has grown significantly in recent years to become a leader within the Digital Health sector by bringing much-needed innovation to the stagnant health care industry. As an Engineering Manager - Web, you are responsible for the productivity of a development team focused on infrastructure and platform components that all Web engineers use. You spend less time writing code, but you must still engage in small technical deliverables such as bug fixes and small features, without blocking or slowing down the progress of your team. More than writing code, you hold responsibility for identifying bottlenecks in the process and roadblocks to success for their team and clearing these roadblocks.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with your team to design, build, and maintain web platform components such as SDK infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, core functionality such as login/identity management.

  • Drive adoption of best practices and tooling developed within the team

  • Monitor day-to-day code delivery and quality, holding the team accountable for upholding our core engineering values

  • Have regular 1:1s with team members that discuss both technical work and professional development

  • Work with product owners and tech leads to drive successful delivery of our product roadmap

  • Anticipate and address issues within the team around communication, underperformance, interpersonal dynamics, and unclear ownership

  • Take a higher level view of architecture and tools, working with team members to identify and drive strategic investment opportunities in our tools and platform

  • Constantly improve process and communication

  • Identify headcount needs for the team, and drive planning and recruiting to fill these needs

  • Adhere to all system operation policies including but not limited to Access Control, Encryption Control, Logging, Change Management, Platform Security, System Configuration, Physical and Incident Management policies

About You:

  • 5+ years experience building Web applications

  • Experience leading development teams

  • Understands and practices agile software development and management specifically in iOS and Android

  • Identifies problems and drives team to reach solutions and make decisions

  • Excels at getting the team to focus on the highest-impact projects

  • Communicates timeline, scope and technical concerns to business stakeholders

  • Sets clear expectations for team members; solicits, synthesizes and delivers feedback

  • Comfortable coaching team members with different skill sets and technical areas of focus
