MPA Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated Band 8a Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist for work within The Children’s Learning Disability Therapeutic Service, in the Ballymena Area.
In this position you will be responsible for the provision of highly specialist psychological care to Children and Young People with and intellectual disability and highly complex presentations. You will provide a consistent & reliable service, showing compassion when meeting the needs of Clients, their Carers, and Families alongside colleagues within the Multidisciplinary Team.
This Locum position is for a 12 month term to provide Maternity Cover.
29.5 Hours p/w
As a Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist you will carry out specialist psychological assessments of children with an Intellectual disability, to include the use of psychological & neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales and direct & indirect structured observations.
You will develop and implement plans for formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s cognitive problems, employing methods of proven efficacy across the range of care and educational settings.
You will hold responsibility for utilizing interventions individually and in synthesis, making relevant adjustments and refining psychological formulations, putting different explanatory models into practice.
You will communicate with Carers & Families in a skilled, sensitive and empathetic manner, providing any information concerning the assessments carried out, formulation and treatment plan of clients under their care.
The Successful Candidate
You will have a warm & empathetic manner with the enthusiasm and ability to contribute to a team approach. It is essential that you are experienced in this field, having spent at least 2 years working as a Qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, working with a variety of client groups, carrying out assessments & delivering psychological interventions across the full range of care settings.
- BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology
- Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent pre-1996)
- Equivalent Training accredited by the BPS (British Psychology Society)
- Eligibility for chartered Membership of BPS
- HCPC Registration
- Full Driving Licence valid for use in UK & Access to a car on appointment
- Full Enhanced Access NI clearance required
