About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive environment, delivering high-quality speech and language therapy services to clients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders. The post holder will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with disorders of communication and/or swallowing problems. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with disorders of communication and/or swallowing problems
  • Be responsible for the assessment, differential diagnosis and the implementation of communication and/or swallowing programmes, seeking advice as appropriate.
  • Evaluate outcomes and provide written reports as required.
  • Provide information and advice for other members of the interdisciplinary team and encourage their active participation in care plans wherever possible.
  • Involve patients and families in goal-setting wherever possible.

  • Initiate, co-ordinate and participate in case conferences, providing a lead role as key worker where appropriate.

  • To participate in training for tracheostomy management as appropriate and to co work cases with a Senior SLT in line with the skills acquired.

  • To participate in training for videofluoroscopy competencies as appropriate and to maintain these competencies by co working cases with a Senior SLT in line with the skills acquired.

About You:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and HCPC registration.

  • Minimum of 18 months post qualification experience working as an SLT to include adults with acquired swallowing and/or communication disorders 

  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK, and have access to a car on appointment 

  • Ability to work independently with non-complex cases 

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.

  • Willingness to complete Enhanced Access NI Check 

  • Experience in delivering therapy in a variety of settings (e.g., community, schools, hospitals) is desirable.
