MPA Belfast are recruiting on behalf of their client, Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for a temporary Arts Development Officer, based at Newtownabbey.

 

Essential Criteria

Communicative English, both written and verbalHold a relevant third level qualification

A minimum of 2 years recent supervisory experience within the arts and cultural sector.

An interest in theatre and the arts which is evident by an enthusiasm and drive to succeed.

Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation particularly in relation to the daily management of a public building

 

The Job Role

 

As a member of the Arts and Culture team, contribute to the effective delivery of operational objectives of the Arts and Culture Section.

Ensure the effective and efficient administration of arts facilities, projects and programmes including adherence to corporate guidelines and procedures, action plans, issuing contracts, contractual arrangements, reports, procurement procedures and financial reconciliation.

Initiate, develop and promote relationships with artists and arts organisations to deliver a broad spectrum of programming and events that increases opportunities to access and participation in performances, workshops and arts courses.  

Assist with arts programming of the theatres in the section with particular responsibility for developing the programme and the operational management of the in the Old Courthouse Theatre and the Courtyard Theatre. 

To programme art classes and courses.Responsible for programming the Oriel and Conservatory Galleries.

Work in partnership with other Council Departments, external agencies and other Councils and Government Departments and represent the Arts and Culture section and Council on appropriate external organising committees with a remit for developing and promoting arts projects and programmes.

Administrate the Arts Advisory Panel, including recording minutes at the meeting, and making necessary arrangements.

Responsible for the collection of lodgements and delivery by the security firm to the Council’s bank.Assist with the delivery of training for on-call staff as necessary and to personally undertake training as required to progress the Arts and Culture section
