MPA Recruitment has been appointed by a successful and growing energy business to source an Application Software Developer to join their team in Letterkenny. The business has a presence across Europe and Asia and specialise in the international trade of energy commodities with clients ranging from utilities and generators to trading houses and energy exchanges. This is a new role in their team brought about as they embark on a period of ambitious growth in the business.
Your role will contribute to a range of activities within the Development and Applications Team. Reporting to the Applications Manager, the role will largely be responsible for providing analysis and development expertise to our business across a range of technologies and platforms. You will be instrumental in driving growth through the expansion and development of IT systems.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, coding, testing and deployment of data gathering, analysis and reporting systems; first and second level support; owning, tracking, analysing, and resolving urgent production incidents and change requests as well as medium and longer-term project deliveries; and participation in companywide initiatives and projects as a development resource.
You will hold a degree in a technical field and programming experience in the likes of scripting languages (Python, Powershell), VBA and Excel, or SQL. You will have strong working knowledge and experience with databases, in particular MySQL, but exposure to other database engines would be desirable also; experience using at least one source control software system preferably BitBucket with Git, and experience of Automation of CI/CD pipelines; and experience of Cloud Services preferably AWS.
You will be diligent with an attention to detail in relation to documentation skills for processes and procedures. You will be organised, flexible, able to prioritise tasks and work in a deadline-orientated environment. You will be self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and absorb information across a range of markets. This is a fast-paced environment where you will have the opportunity to work across a range of areas and be able to take on additional responsibilities if desired.
