ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

DERRY/ LONDONDERRY

£25,000 - £35,000 DEP ON EXPERIENCE

Our client is a long-established, family run car dealership on the outskirts of Derry City, selling new and used vehicles to customers across the UK and Ireland.

The business wishes to appoint an ambitious and career focussed Accounts Assistant who will have responsibility for its finance function. You be responsible for delivering effective financial management, control and reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring the smooth running of the entire accounts function to include maintaining the Sales & Purchase Ledgers, banking and cash processing;
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns;
  • Monthly payroll processing;
  • Responsibility for overseeing the Vehicle Ledger to include processing all costs and bonuses associated with each vehicle;
  • Undertaking credit control activities to include producing a weekly Aged Debtors Listing and following up on overdue accounts;
  • Completion of monthly Composite Report to PSA Citroen/Peugeot;
  • Assisting the business owner with the ongoing monitoring of cashflow;
  • Completion of month-end procedures to include running and reviewing Aged Vehicle Stock report, reconciling bank and other balance sheet control accounts; and running off month end reports; and
  • Liaising with external accountant with regard to the preparation of management and year end accounts and to ensure full compliance with all tax and regulatory filing requirements.

CRITERIA

  • Strong academic background to A level or equivalent;
  • IATI (Level 5) OR ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with at least two years’ post qualified experience in a commercial accounts role;
  • Strong IT skills. Specific recent experience in operating a Dealer Management System (Kerridge/ Pinnacle) would be a distinct advantage.
