Job Description

Our client a successful expanding healthcare organisation requires a Deputy Nurse Manager for their prestigious nursing home in the�Cookstown area

 

Job Role(s)

Reports to: Regional Manager

Key Objective: To liaise with the service user’s family, friends GP, Community Nurses, specialist, pharmacists, local authorities, local councils, voluntary bodies and any other associations related to�care for the elderly.
To guide support and direct Staff ensuring the Home is providing the correct standard of care at all times.

Key Accountabilities

• To ensure that a stimulated and caring environment is maintained at all times, ensuing that the service user’s health safety and welfare is of the highest standard.

• To ensure that the recruitment processes are met ensuring that sufficient numbers of staff are of the right calibre to meet all aspects of the service users needs as specified by the registration department

• To ensure that care plans are completed, and are in place and cover all aspects of care that is required by the service user.

• To ensure that the standards and upkeep of all service users’ property, furnishings and fittings are maintained and monitored at all times.

• To take overall responsibility for all staff and all aspects of the service users by ensuring they receive the best care available.

• To ensure that staff are carrying out their duties as set out in their respective job descriptions.

• To provide support and assistance to members of staff.

• To ensure that attendance to both mandatory and required training courses including that of your staff are met in order that skills, knowledge and competency levels are maintained in order to carry out the role efficiently and effectively.

• To plan and facilitate regular staff meetings, staff supervision establishing an effective communication system, ensuring that staff is kept up to date with all current necessary information.

• To comply with all job related policies, procedures, regulations, and rules including health’ safety and welfare of the service user staff, and colleagues.

• To ensure that fire checks, fire training and fire drills are implemented on a regular basis.

• To ensure that non-committal for capitol expenditure in relation to the buildings, equipment or repairs without express agreement of a Director.

• To ensure revenue and staff costs are maintained as set out by Senior Management.

• To ensure that areas of responsibility are maintained and to delegate duties to staff ensuring implementation.

• To notify and discuss with the Human Resources Department and Operations Manager all instances of disciplinary issues that may arise.

• To ensure that all associated administration duties are carried out effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner.

• To record and account for all petty cash expenditure.

• To collect, record and account for service user’s pensions and allowances.

• To be the custodian of all administration duties with regard to the disposal of medication.

• To ensure that the Operations Manager and relevant Director is aware of any incident or adversity regarding staffing, and revenue/wages expenditure.

• To ensure that all staff are issued with time sheets and ensuring that the details are correct.

• It is the individual and collective responsibility of every member of staff to ensure adherence to the company’s equal opportunities policies. Racial, sexual or any other harassment or bullying as this will not be tolerated.

• It is the responsibility of every member of staff to ensure compliance with health and safety at work legislation.

• It is the personal responsibility of all staff to act in accordance with Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Safe Guarding of Vulnerable Adults (Sova).

• To will undertake any other duties, that may arise from time to time.

 

Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • Live registration on NMC Register as RGN/RMN
  • Minimum two years post-registration experience in care of the elderly and residents who have specialist dementia needs.
  • Demonstrable management experience with evidence of good people management skills, ability to lead and motivate others and knowledge of RQIA requirements.

 

Additional Benefits

This position is 36hrs per week�of which 12hrs are supernumery.
