Long Term Temporary > Permanent
Some companies use what's known as 'temp to perm' – taking on a temp with a view to permanent employment if all goes well. This gives you as many bites at the cherry as you need to find the right person. What's more, it gives you far more scope to find out everything you need to know about a person than a brief interview. And it also means that by the time they go permanent - often after about three months - they're fully familiar with the job. In many cases this saves the many thousands of pounds it often takes to bring a new employee fully up to speed.
